World champion sprinter Tori Bowie passed away at the age of 32 due to complications during childbirth. She was found dead in her Florida home on May 2, with an autopsy report stating that she was eight months pregnant and undergoing labor. Possible complications included respiratory distress and eclampsia.

Bowie had won three medals during the 2016 Summer Olympics and became the world's fastest woman in 2017. The track and field community expressed their condolences, with many taking to social media to mourn the loss of a great competitor and source of light.
