Hey fellow Outlander addicts! It’s Hannah, and I just watched this video breaking down Sam Heughan’s dating history, and you KNOW I had to share!
The video covers everything from his early relationships with actresses like Cody Kennedy and MacKenzie Mauzy to more recent rumors and his current girlfriend, Monica Clark.
It's a pretty comprehensive look at Sam's love life outside of Outlander.
What struck me was the comments section. Some people are super invested in Sam's personal life: "Why do people speculate so much about Sams love life. Its his business." Others focused on the Sam/Cait relationship, with many reiterating that "Sam and Cait are very close friends but nothing more. She and husband Tony have been very happily married for years.
" As a huge SamCait shipper, I appreciate the reminder that their on-screen chemistry doesn’t necessarily translate to real life, even though a girl can dream, right? ;)
The video does a good job of presenting the facts and letting you draw your own conclusions. The comment about MacKenzie Mauzy also jumped out, with the user claiming she used Sam to advance her career.
It shows how fame can sometimes be a double-edged sword.

User1.MacKenzie Mauzie seemed to have used her perceived proximity to Sam very badly as a public relations tool and caused him a lot of emotional pain, according to some reliable sources who know him personally, using his fame and personal rising success in Outlander to advance her luke-warm acting career (like she evidently did to the other men in her life before and after Sam). Some who have been close friends to Sam have indicated that she got pregnant while supposedly claiming Sam was her only love interest, allegedly used this pregnancy to try to coerce him into marrying her, but there were questions that had arisen at the time that she may have cheated on Sam, and that the child was actually fathered by someone else.
Some claim that when marriage attempts failed she then demanded child support from him without being willing to provide proof of claim. It was shortly after that that Sam and this despicable woman went their separate ways. No man likes being used by someone like that, being extorted into a forced marriage or into being soaked by someone for child support payments especially if they were obtained under false pretenses.
User2.This was an especially cruel thing to do to Sam considering his own painful family history. Since Sam’s father had abandoned his mother and their two sons when Sam was very little and left them destitute to fend for themselves, he has always been aware of the pain of being estranged from and abandoned by a parent. The very considerate and kind Sam has learned from his history and tried to be careful and cautious about family planning issues so as not to repeat his own painful family history into another generation.
Being a kind, sensitive, careful and responsible sort, had Sam been convinced beyond a reasonable doubt of his paternity of Mauzie’s child, he would no doubt have done the right thing and stepped up to his family responsibilities to recognize his offspring and support it.
User3.Why do people speculate so much about Sams love life. Its his business. And i believe in spite of his saying he is looking; he is living the good life right now, and im sure he isnt lacking in the female dept.
; but he still likes playing the field instead of being tied down to one right now.. And who can blame him. Hes young enough to wait untill he is truly caught off guard by one. Maybe he aleady has been, and just cant get past it.
User4.I admire and drewl over Sam..but there was a background knowledge before Outlander that he was gay. After outlander hit it big all of the sudden there were no posts about Sam being gay.
So... I love him soooo much and wish him happiness. I personally will not care if he is or not..

User6.The fashion models in Sam’s life seemed to be passing serial shallow relationships at best, with captured moments kissing or with heads together by nosey paparazzi interrupting private time at street cafes, but none of them seemed to be especially compatible with Sam in the long run.
