Criminal Minds fans have pointed out a plot hole in the season five episode "100," in which Hotch's ex-wife Haley is killed by the Boston Reaper. Despite being threatened by the serial killer and potentially shown his photo, she fails to recognize him when he poses as a U.S. Marshal to gain entry into her home.

While some argue that it's not always easy to recognize someone from a photo, others feel that Haley should have been briefed on Foyet given his relationship with Hotch. Regardless of this controversy, "100" remains a fan favorite, despite its tragic ending.
